JW Cypert has a nice biography in Goodspeed's 1894 Reminiscent History of the Ozarks on page 423-425.

He initially was Commissary of Mc(C)Arvers Regiment CSA but was invalided out with measles. He then is listed as joining JT Coffee's Regiment and commander of Co E during Price's Raid 1864. He had a son taken prisoner (Thomas) during that time.
