Your Goodrich Lightfoot was actually a Jr. His Father was Goodrich Lighfoot Sr. Mother was Louisiana. Born in Lawrence County Alabama 1838 he is found in the 1850 census of said county dwelling number 400. He had a sister Judith 2 years his senior. Both parents are from Virginia. Father born about 1789. Mother born about 1805.

1860 finds both he and his father in Center Twsp, Doniphan Co, Kansas Territory. Post Office listed as Troy.

Goodrich Lightfoot Sr. is on the 1830 Census for District 7, Lawrence Alabama with his wife. 1840 finds him in Lauderdale County Alabama. I believe Goodrich Sr was from Culpepper Co VA but don't have source provence for that.

I can find none of the above in any 1870 census Missouri, Kansas, Alabama or Texas. Goodrich Sr had a brother that located to Sangammon Co IL but I did not find any path crossing with that group. There is a Judith Lighfoot with a marriage record in 1861 in IL but I beleive she is not the one born in Alabama though may be a cousin.
