David Farmer was the father of Elihu Farmer, both served with the 32nd Regiment Enrolled Missouri Militia Company I, Enrolled July 1862 at Ironton MO.

Elihu also served with 80th Reg't EMM rasied in Desoto MO in 1864.

Regiment was also known as the 32nd Regiment Washington County volunteers.

1860 Census find both in Iron Twshp Iron County, with approrpiate ages. David with daughter Phoebe, and Elihu with wife Margaret Ann

1870 finds Elihu and Maragaret in Jefferson County MO
1880 to 1910 has Elihu with Margaret in Douglas County.

1870, 1880 has David in Washington County with second wife Dorcas.

David M. Farmer moved from Harlan County, Kentucky to Washington County, Missouri, about 1856 to the headwaters of Big River, which later became Iron County. The 1860 census shows David in Iron County with his daughter Phoebe.

David M. Farmer married Dorcas Ann Eaton (Horton) September 28, 1862. It is said they had one child who died in infancy.
