There is a big fat file on the Headlee family at the Greene County Archives just north of the square on Boonville. Also, a copy of a lot of the information is also at the Webster County Historical Museum in Marshfield. Be careful when searching for Samuel Headlee since there were two men with that name in the Greene County area in the 1860s. One, the Reverend Samuel Headlee, was murdered at Pleasant View Church near Elkland in 1866, The other Samuel Headlee was a captain or officer in several Missouri units. I do not know the relationship between the men. If you want information on the Rev. Headlee please let me know and I can supply additional info. There will be an article on the murder of the Rev. in a forthcoming Webster County Historical Society Journal. Possibly out in early 2008.
