Re: Civil War Vets at Denlow Cemetery

John McLean:

There is a John Yerby McLean who lived in Boone Co. MO (married to Mary Sexton) had son Everett that IS NOT this John McLean.

This fellow married Eliza J Driskell (born abt 1850 died 1928) and is buried in Denlow Cemetery with John. Their son Arthur J and his wife Grace Ann Woods are also buried in Denlow Cemetery with one of their children noted as well (Ted R,)

Note Marital Status of the 1910 census Douglas County dwelling 41
Eliza J McLean
Age in 1910: 56
Estimated birth year: abt 1854
Birthplace: Missouri
Relation to Head of House: Mother-in-law
Father's Birth Place: Indiana
Mother's Birth Place: Kentucky
Home in 1910: Cass, Douglas, Missouri
Marital Status: Divorced
Gender: Female
Household Members: Name Age
Walter H Smith 27
Maude M Smith 27
Lily M Smith 7
Ethel J Smith 5
Ruby G Smith 1 6/12
Eliza J McLean 56

1920 an 1860 census confirms DOB for Eliza as 1854 as stated in 1910 census. She is listed in dwelling 363 in 1860 Falling Springs, Douglas Co. MO with father Elijah of Indiana and mother Anna of Kentucky (Eliza J Driscol)

1900 Census has John and Eliza in Douglas Co:
Name: John McClean
Home in 1900: Cass, Douglas, Missouri
Age: 57
Estimated birth year: abt 1843
Birthplace: Nebraska
Spouse's name: Eliza
Household Members: Name Age
John McClean 57
Eliza McClean 47
Maud McClean 16
Charley McClean 15
Arthur McClean 13
Fe McClean 10

The 1900 census is important as it proves that the John McLean of Douglas county with wife Eliza and daughter Maude is clearly not the same as John McLean with wife Mary (Sexton) and sons Everett and John H. Mclean of Boone county Missouri.

Note Maude was born in Arkansas, the marriage date of John and Eliza is estimated to be 1881 and there is an Eliza Driskell found in 1880 in Benton Co. Arkansas

Thus I can not place this John McLean in Missouri at the time of the Civil war. There are 189 John McClean's listed in the NPS listing. In Missouri SOS listing I find only one that comes close to a match and that is service with 13th Regiment Cav Volunteers enrolled in Iron County March 1864, deserted Kansas Dec 1865 and the age matches. No other info to provence to the John McLean in question.
