Re: Robert W. Hite

Rose Mary;

One of the things I found interesting was that Robert Woodson "Wood" Hite was always listed in the census tables as living in Logan County KY. His Obit indicates he died there as well. Tracking him down in those census listings he was listed with his father and mother's household through 1870. Then in 1880 he is found living with his brother George T. even though his father has remarried and is living in the same homestead as before, just with a different woman and step-daughter.

Clarence B. Hite (aka Jefferson Davis Hite) appears to be everywhere his older brother Robert is and has an identical census trail. He is alway listed in the census pages as Clarence B, though he hits at least one index with Clarence D. a transcription error.

The Census reports and obit/death note re Robert W all are consistent with the reported birthday of March 1850 as lsited on the Adairville, Logan Co. KY 1850 census enumerated August 1850 (G B Hite Dwelling # 78) that makes him just 14 in 1864, quite young to be running around with Quantril and/or Anderson. Not impossible I just find it hard to swallow with out more data...me thinks that his story may have grown a bit and he "grew older" after his association with the James boys began.
