Thanks Gay for sharing the info. Its quite a read, and I suspect more truth than fiction in spite of the libel suit. I could not help but think back to Dottie Deshazier's hunt for her grandfather and the family stories she has about the comming and goings of him and the assertion Frank James would come visit. It seems to me to be certainly plausible as they were right across the river from Logan Co. (Though I'm pretty sure there is no link between her family and "Bud" Wigginton of Quantril fame, it just doesn't fit.)

As for Wood Hite having been with Anderson or Quantril I still have my doubts. If you take the C-J article for its word, I understnd now how there is confusion in the online records about where Wood Hite was shot and killed. The C-J reports once in Ky and once in Missouri but are consistent in saying it was Mr Harbison's farm formally of Shelby Co Ky.

The last thing that I find remarkable is how I tend to forget how mobile folks were even in the 1860's. It is not uncommon to hear and read about visits to adjoining states between family members. I forget how "easy" it was to hop on a train and a couple days later be several hundred miles a way...
