From the short paragraph I posted it sounds like Solomon D Crites decided he did not want to be in the Tucker Gang any longer for some reason. Here is a little more info.
In 1860 Solomon was listed as houshold 152 on the Carter County Mo. census living with his wife Caroline and four kids. Solomons age was 31. Wife's age 29. Kids 9,7,6,2.
Solomon had patented land in Carter County 5 times. He had a lot to lose.
The next household, number 153, on the 1860 Carter census was A.K. Tucker, age 35.
There was more Tucker land patents near Solomon. Crites and the Tuckers land was only about 15 to 20 miles south of Patterson and not that far from Leeper's property.
