Forum,
I am seeking biographical detail about Confederate Captain John Drury Pulliam of the Howard County area. Captain Pulliam was an aggressive recruiter in the recruiting commmand of Colonel Sidney D. Jackman in the Howard and Boone County area during much of 1863 and did some work here again during 1864.
I know that in "Price's Lieutenants" page 134 it says Pulliam led a Fayette, Howard County company of southern Missouri State Guard at Elkhorn Tavern in March 1862. I also read that Colonel Jackman said that on 29 August 1864 Union forces captured and murdered Pulliam according to Eakin and Hale's 1993 "Branded As Rebels," page 360.
I need something about the man himself. I have lots about his exploits, but nothing about his home, family, prewar life, etc. Can anybody supply anything?
