Edward W. Dorsey and his wife Eleanor moved to Pike county Mo. in 1837. Two of their children were Caleb W. Dorsey, born 1833, who served in the Confederate Army and Susannah(Lou) Eleanor Dorsey, born 1844, who provided assistance to Confederate prisonors.
Papers consist primarily of letters of Confederate soldiers imprisoned at Fort Warren Mass., Johnson's Island Ohio, and Fort Delaware, Del. to Miss Lou Dorsey in Mo.
Correspondents include Caleb Dorsey, J. DRURY PULLIAM, W.R Holcombe, Harry Knight, George B. Clark, and J. M. Climer.
Also contains a poem.
