Your mention of Colonel Jackman's mournful compliments to the dead Captain Pulliam is timely and helpful (see my reply a few minutes ago to John).
Also, I appreciate your reminding me of Pulliam's letter in the Caleb Dorsey file at the historical society. I took note of it a few years ago and forgot it until you mentioned it. Since Caleb Dorsey was also an aggressive Confederate recruiter not far away from Captain Pulliam's area of operations, I can see that they would know each other. Also, I will need that biographical detail on Dorsey soon enough, too.
