Yankee bushwhackers in his bed on his farm in Advance in Bollinger County, MO.

Again, I ain't vouchin for authenticity but to my recollection here are principal parts of the story as handed down to kin...

George had twin 9 mo. old boys w/ him when the Yanks came in & shot him 6 times because he refused to get outside.

When leaving, his wife told the Yankss he wasn't dead yet so they came back in & shot him 3 more times then tore him up real good with their sabres or knives. As they left the 2nd time, one said, "You reckon we ought to kill them 2 little Reb SOBs?" Anyway, that's how close I came to not being able to make this post because I'd never been born 'cause one of them twins was my great granddaddy.

The Yanks apparently were all tore up because as legend has it grandaddy Zim lead a posse who stoled a Yank payroll from a Yank wagon to the Yanks tarnation & then made the Yanks march lickety split yonder butt naked.

Legend further has it that gold bars were buried on grandaddy's farm which many folks have since tried to dig up but but still ain't been found.

I'll see if aunt LuLu can get y'all something more official.
