I have located several men who, according to the Roster of Ohio Soldiers, are buried at Jefferson Barracks. In fact, they have specific locations. One for example is John Freitag, Co. H, 175th Ohio. He is supposed to be buried in Section 45, Grave 105. However, neither the cemetery nor the U. S. Department of Veterans Affairs list Freitag with a marked grave. I spoke to someone at the Barracks today who confirmed Freitag does not show up on a list of known graves. So beyond him checking the actual grave, which he said he might be able to do, I'm stuck. I'm in Tennessee so I can't accomplish a spot check easily. Anyone have any thoughts or anyone in the St. Louis area feel like doing some detective work?
