Hello Lee,
I took a look at the Missouri web site for military service. It shows a James and an Arthur Devers both killed in 1864, in Clay County. Both were in the Confederate Army.
As a side note, my wife has Devers of Kentucky in her ancestry. Her 2nd g grandfather was Houston Bently Devers of Bourbon County.
