Don;
The reference to James F Wilhite comes from Mid Mo Civil War roundtable article
http://mmcwrt.missouri.org/2000/glasgow4.htm
The lineage is found Chapman's 1893 Biographical Record of Lafayette and Saline Co. When compared to the 1881 Saline Co. History, National Historical Press it appears to me that James Franklin Wilhite was a brother to Elias Wilhite. James M Wilhite is the son of Elias. With all that said I've not been able to PROVE the Wilhite's in the histories are the Wilhite's described in the article and OR. Anecdotally it fits.
To perhaps help closure, Bruce Nichols and I have turned this upside down and sideways. Larry Wood in his new book indicates Capt. James D Pulliam was the son of Benjamin Graves Pulliam and cousin of the John Drury Pulliam I've tried to make fit. IMHO they both still have problems. (recognize here please that I highly respect Mr Wood's work and highly reccomend his book!)Some primary documentation from Saline or Howard County would go a long way to help. Maybe a long weekender on the ground there.
What fun we have :>)
