You might access wartime issues of Harpers Weekly and Frank Leslie's Illustrated. These two publications periodically ran sketches pertaining to the war in Missouri, especially in the first year or so of the war. The Missouri Historical Society in St. Louis has sketches from both publications in its collections. In addition, major university and public libraries also may have them in their collections.
