I thought it might be interesting to the members of this board if you could give some short descriptions of the incidents, with details of who was involved, where it happened, approximate dates if you know them, and why they were singled out by those rascally guerrillas. I have read that Cass Co. was devastated and mostly depopulated in the early years of the Civil War. The Cass Co. Home Guard were vigorous and violent, the Southern recruiting camp brought a lot of men into the county and invited Jayhawker raids. Not all of the violence was a result of political convictions, many old grudges were settled. My ancestors relatives in that area were Union, Confederate and just trying to keep out of it. They all lost property and some of them their lives. So please give us some details for the experts and scholars so they so they may put together a core complete picture of events and troop movements in the areas where your relatives lived.
