Re: Confederate version of Ashley fight/Beck's dea

Mr. Ross,
I thank you for your latest, "Confederate version" and I must say it is the most palatable of the accounts I have read. My great grandfather was Theodore Lycurgus Beck, son of Moses, and an eventual sooner/89er who settled in Custer County, Oklahoma. I find him listed with his mother, Sarah Elizabeth (Beck) Ashworth in the 1880 Federal census but do not find him again in the census until 1900. I believe he fathered a daughter, Mattie Beck, found in his household in the 1900 census, born about 1884. She was listed as born in Indian Territory. I am interested in his activities between '80 and '84. My father remembers his grandfather talking about the James boys. No details. I would again be appreciative of any insights. Thanks again, Steve Buck
