In my last post I mistakenly refered to the 15th Missouri and I should have stated the 7th.

Yes, when I refer to Red-Legs and Jay Hawkers, it is my Rebel way of saying the 7th Kansas.

From what I could tell in Williams writings, the yanks would press ex-confederates into service and then allow them to use former unit designations...I dont know if this was for local morale or to cover yankee atrocities but it seemed to be the rule rather than the exception.
