By the way... this is refering to the Canadian River in the Indian Territory along the Choctaw-Muscogee(Creek) border. They crossed the Arkansas below the Canadian at Pheasant Bluff (aka Pleasant) -- where the J.R. Williams was captured -- crossing from the Cherokee Nation into the Choctaw Nation. The ORs say that Shelby moved along the North Fork of the Canadian River (now known as the North Canadian River) -- meaning he had to cross the Canadian into the Muscogee(Creek) Nation. The mouth of the North Fork is now enundated by Lake Eufaula. This area probably had an abundance of corn and unattended cattle.
