Fascinating. I want to cross-post this to the Indian Territory message board. Does Thompson's memoirs cover their trek from Cane Hill to Pheasant Bluff on the Arkansas and then over to North Fork Town (North Fork Town was near the mouth of the North Fork of the Canadian River and about a mile north-northeast of present Eufaula, enundated by Lake Eufaula).

When doing some research on the 2nd Colorado Cav, I found they followed Price to Pheasant Bluff and fired across the river at the retreating Confederates. As I recall, the Confederates abandoned a gun and casson near the crossing, probably for lack of a team to pull it.

Is there more after their meal with Brig Gen Stand Watie regarding the continuation from Boggy Depot across the Red River? Watie was the elected Principal Chief of the Southern Cherokee and the only Native American to reach the rank of general in the field.
