Military Record - William Perry Hamilton

Searching for military record of William Perry Hamilton.

His descendant W. W. Hamilton, Jr. submitted a membership application circa 1923 to the Col. D. H. Lee Martz Camp, # 10, Harrisonburg VA, Sons of Confederate Veterans. W. W. noted on the application that William Perry was dead and had been held captive in prison at the close of the War. W. W. also listed his own birth as 1 June 1894 in Vinton VA and that at the time of his application he (W. W.) was the Minister at First Baptist Church in Harrisonburg.

A check of William Perry Hamilton shows a man of this name in Company H, 1st MO NE Cav., 2nd MO NE Cav., and Company C, 6th MO Cav. Possibly this was one and the same man.

Any clarification and/or information concerning William Perry Hamilton's military record would be most appreciated.
