Bryce is quite right. You will need to consult local genealogical and history societies in the area where the person in question lived and died. Some of those maintain something approaching a list of the sort you describe.

By the way, when was your ancestor killed? Even a month and year could help.

The burning of the house is a clue that tends to point to raiders from Kansas rather than southern bushwhackers, but there are exceptions to this rule of thumb.
