I wonder if E. Moore was Edith Doss Moore who lived in Jackson Co. at Big Cedar (Blue Tsp) which I think was right on the border of Cass Co. She had a grandson, Tommy Yocum, who had joined the CSA. Her sons were Samuel White Moore 1828, William Weatherford 1831, John Jasper Moore 1837, Madison Marion Moore 1839 - I have not found records of their Civil War service - does somebody have that information readily available?

Margaret Hays' letters in late 1861 tell quite a lot about the Jayhawker's activities (Letters 33 - 35). Jennison's command was camped in the Westport area and sending out groups to pillage, burn and kill Confederate supporters. They had several skirmishes with Col. Upton Hays' newly formed Jackson Co. Brigade and she mentions one skirmish with a group of Jayhawkers at "Little Blue". Follow the link below to read the letters. Margaret writes Jennison as Generson.
