Civil War - Missouri/Arkansas

Found my gggrandfather on the 1890 Veterans Census and the Missouri Archives sent me copies of his service cards. Would like to know how to order the complete records, and if they would tell me more information. He is also listed on the Missouri Lieutenant Governor's Office list which reads as follows: Proceedings of the twenty-eighth annual emcampment of the Department of Missouri, Grand Army of the Republic, held at Joplin, Missouri May 12th and 13th, 1909 - List of Deaths, 1908. GAR Post 496 - 1st Sergt. Co. A. 5th MO Cav. [Col. Meumann]. However, on his service cards is stated: Crpl. Co. G. 5th Reg't Inf. Vols. On the other card stated: 4th Reg't Cav. Vols. Crp. Co. D-G Mustered in Feb 28, 1862 Elm Springs, Ark; Mustered out Oct 24, 1864 St Louis, MO. Remarks: Orig Co. "D" Fremonts Hussars Sergt.
All very confusing and wonder if these are all the same person. His name was William Frederick Braun but all the records I've found list only William Braun. We also have the Book of By-laws from his GAR chapter which say Sedalia, Missouri 1913. Thanks for any information you can give me to help clarify.
