Hello -

In my family history files, I recently discovered a cryptic notation made by my father's cousin. It reads:

"William Frances Simmons, died Jan. 8, 1863"

There was no additional info or indication of what the family relationship might be, etc. I am guessing that this individual is somehow related to my gg-gf Alfred L. Simmons and his family.

I also discovered that there was a William F. Simmons, 2nd Lt, Co. C, 2nd Missouri Cavalry, CSA listed in the NPS Soldiers & Sailors system.

Could some kind soul please tell me if the CSR docs for this soldier give any info re his death?
