Tht's quite a site; I wish all the sattes had something similar. In an intial look,it seems some of the Kinders were in Confederate units earlier in the war, and in Union militia in the later part (possibly due to Price's Raid).

The John W. Kinder was listed as 5 years younger than anticipated; but perhaps that record is wrong.

I also looked up James Piper,my ggg grandfather who married Sarah Kinder. I knew there was a James Piper in an engineering unit - that one was listed as age 31, rather than my ggg grandfather's 34. Perhaps he downplayed his age to enlist.
