The Missouri in the Civil War Message Board

Re: re Civil War deaths at hands of Bushwhacker

This was my first time posting a message on this site and I am amazed and thankful that you all took the time to research my ancestors and respond to my questions. It is unbelievable.

I will take the information you provided and go from there.

I will add that the reason I believe that Stephen and Anna (Anderson) Hill were killed after the 1860 census was the fact that one of their younger sons was apparently taken in by the Lance Family when he was twelve, and was found on the 1870 Missouri census.
Another son, William Field Hill was my ggggrandfather and did indeed settle in Nebraska.

I also found out that one of Stephen Hill's ggggrand children had a tombstone put up in a Nebraska Cemetery just to honor them. They were not buried there.

Again, thank you.

Jim
