Thanks, Kirby. I had heard they were related before, but now I feel much more certain of it. In our living room we have a small display case with minnie balls, and other artifacts, from the Sharpsburg Battlefield. There is also a pair of glasses that are not from that battlefield. My spouses ex earned a masters degree in history. His thesis was on the two General Garnett's and he is very interested in the Sharpsburg Battlefield. He visits historic sites, and met a descendant of Dr Samuel Mudd (who set Booth's leg.) She gave him the glasses, and told him they were the good doctors reading glasses.
