As pointed out above Lt. Henry Sladek of the 3rd MSM, born in Austria/Germany served with distinction during the Civil War. He married and raised several children who have direct descendants that continue to live in the St. Louis, Audrain and Pike County Missouri area. Lt Sladek died 21 May 1902 and his obituary is listed in Audrain County, Missouri Obituaries, 1885-1903, Weant, Kenneth, ed.. The obituary was originally published in the Mexico Intelligencer, 29 May 1902 issue as well as the weekly "Mexico Weekly Ledger"

He is found in the 1880, 1890 Special, 1900 census listing with wife Louisa in Paris Twp, Monroe Co Missouri.

He is listed in the 1881 Missouri State Gazetteteer pg 512 as a Baker in Monroe County MO consistent with his census listings.

He did NOT end up in Australia nor was he born in Australia as indicated on http://www.users.bigpond.com/bcrompton/Ausborn.htm
