Shelia

I'm a bit confused by your post help me out.

I've got John Anderson Simpson who married Margaret Cherry as a native of Cannon Co. TN and is listed in the Mt. Vernon, Lawrence , MO census of 1860. That makes his father Valentine Wright Simpson who located to Oregan Co, MO between 1850 and 1860, and is found with his second wife in the Woodside Twsp of Oregan Co in 1860. Valentine has a son (1/2 borther to John A.) named David G Simpson. Green Henderson Simpson appears to have been married and remained in TN as best as I can tell (full brother to John A Henderson)

In your post you indicate that John A's wife Margaret returned to MO from Randolph CO AR after the war. This would indicate that she relocated to Randolph county from Lawrence Co MO with her husband after 1860 which would likely make John A an irregular combatant for the confederacy as Randolph County was "safe" territory for such units during the early part of the war.

Can you confirm any of the above ?

Thaks John R.
