Hiram Newton Ashley

Hiram Newton Ashley joined the "army" (most likely confederate as a teenager from near Butler, Bates County, Missouri and was killed two weeks later at the Battle of Lone Jack. His sister, after the war, rode her horse to the battlefield to see the monument and sign the book of relatives of the dead. We can find no written proof that Hiram was in the service, nor that he was killed at Lone Jack. Can anyone help with this? Thank you. Jane
