Personally offered before me Aaron Teagarden, who, being duly sworn, deposes and says: My name is Aaron L. Gordon. I am a corporal in Company “C” 13th Missouri Cavalry. I was on duty as corporal of the patrol guard on Sunday the 11th day of February, 1865. I walked into a saloon, and while looking at a picture on the wall which upon were some citizens in pursuit of the guerilla Quantrel, and while remarking that this so, the way it ought to be done, A man standing in the saloon, remarked to me that there was something more of Quantrel(‘s) operation, pointing at the same time to a picture hanging on the wall that represented Quantrel murdering a Union family. He then remarked that Quantrel had as good men and as brave men as anybody’s men – then he being personally acquainted with a great many of Quantrel’s men, or words to that effect, The way he talked notified me that he was friendly to Quantrel, and upheld them. I asked him if he had any arms. He told me no. I then directed a guard to search him, as he looked very suspicious. I then told him to pull off his belt, which he done at the same time handing me a revolver. I then placed him in charge of a guard and brought him here. The man said his name was Joseph Lowe.
