Robert, thanks so much for sending the picture. That's the first time I've ever seen it. Here is what I received via email today from a curator at the OK Historical Society Museum regarding Shelby's battle flag:

"After 20+ years, that flag is no longer on display. Without massive amounts of conservation work, the likelihood of it being on display again are very slim. The entire flag is made of silk material. The structure of silk strands turn brittle and shatter, much like fiberglass, with age. This is what had happened with this flag. Large portions, if not the entire flag, are very similar to ash. For this reason the flag is currently stored within our collections storage area."

So it looks as though we may never see it displayed again. It's a shame, but it sounds like there is nothing that can be done. One more vestige of the old Iron Brigade fading away with time.
