You must have me confused with someone else.
If the list had been made in Arkansas, every single one of my
kinfolks would have been on it. I was amazed to find a Niehaus on
it as they were Germans from St Louis.
Only a Guthrie who deserted from the 35th Arkansas CSA and joined the Union
Cav. changed sides. You could say he was motivated to after his brother Owen died
at Shiloh and another Frederick was taken off to the Yankee prison and died up north.
Those were terrible times.
I never will forget that I asked my grandmother about her grandfather,
and her answer was"Why the Confederacy of course."
