Re: "Pamdexter", "Poindexter"??

I have seen images of numerous letters from this boy's family and friends trying to get him released from prison. According to those, he turned himself in after only a couple weeks with Porter's regiment. He was then sent off to prison. It appears that he went back and forth between Alton and Gratiot. The last item I've seen shows that he was paroled at Sister's Hospital but other records read more like he was sent there and not released. I've got a lot of digging yet to do on him as he is not showing up in census records as Joseph B. Wigginton. His father was Joseph A. Wigginton but records for his family don't show a Joe Jr.

Thanks for the info and please pass on any others with regards to the parole or transfer to Sister's Hospital.
