Yes, Captain Samuel W. Headlee was, indeed, a first cousin of Samuel S. Headlee, the preacher who was killed near Elkland shortly after the close of the war. In fact, there were five Samuel Headlees who were all first cousins. Check out my Oct. 19, 2008 blog entry at http://ozarks-history.blogspot.com for more info on the Headlee family. I also wrote an article that appeared in the Oct.-Nov. 2001 Ozarks Mountaineer about the murder of Rev. Headlee.
