Your information is alot of help.I've been wary of transscribed info. and have often tried to obtain the orignal record. For example I've read one Missouri census record for him that said "he spoke German" and after obtaining the original copy of this same census it actually reads "born in Germany".
I would like to thank everyone who have reponded to my post. Each reply has helped me piece together evidence and information on my German ancestor's life and service in the Civil War. Hopefully I'll be able to one day find out where he is buried so we can honor his service during memorial day.
