Re: Unusual Confederate Monument
The topic began with the mention of enlisted men in the 15th Missouri Cavalry CSA, and mentions Dave Reed. My g-g-grandfather Alexander C. Tarlton is documented as being killed in his home by the Dave Reed band of guerillas in Wayne County on December 18, 1864. Alexander Tarlton had been enrolled on Sept 29, 1862 in The USA Co B, Wayne County Enrolled Missouri Militia, and again on April 30, 1864 in Co K, 68th Regiment of Missouri Enrolled Militia. He was home ill after a stock-buying trip when he was killed in his chair in front of his wife and children. The question is this, has anyone any information on the eventual destiny of Dave Reed? Just for sake of having the documentation complete? Or what actions the companies in which Alexander Tarlton had enrolled (not sure if he served) might have led to him as a target for this killing? Oral history is pretty complete, but the details are lacking. Thanks, Keith Ragan
