Robert: I think it is unusual for both the date it was erected and the blatantly anti-Union language placed on the monument. I would think it was indeed risky to place the monument during that time in that place. While the Confederate monument at Camden Point is recognized as the first "Confederate" monument in the state (1871), nothing could be more Confederate than the one to the Wayne County Seven in my humble opinion.
