Jim,
Are there any other possible names on the roster you might want to look up? The copy of the Roster I have for Company I indicates it is as shown on the original muster roll dated November 13, 1864 on file in the Adjutants General"s Office, State of Missouri.
Go to the following link which is a Missouri Government page and you can search for all the veterans of the Civil War as well as other military wars in which Missourians served.
It will list the name and the unit to which they were assigned.
Some men enlisted in more than one regiment throughout the course of the war.
A lot of men joined Phelps's regiment early on and then later joined up with other regiments.
There was also the county "Home Guards".

Don't get discouraged. Keep looking as one of my forebearers wasn't showing up, and another researcher told me that he had given testimony as to another veteran's service so a widow could receive a pension. As a matter of fact, he had been present when he was killed at the Battle of Pea Ridge in AR. This gave me a clue as to where to look for records and not only did I find that one I found he had actually served in two other regiments as well as learning he had gone by his middle name throughout most of his life.
