Capt. William "Bloody Bill" Anderson

While researching the "Unfiled Papers and Slips attached to the Confederate CMSR's" (National Archives Microfilm series M347) I found the orders from Maj. Gen. Sterling Price to "Capt. Bill Anderson" found on Anderson's body when he was killed at Orrick, Mo. on Oct. 27, 1864. The orders read as follows:

Head Qrs Army of Mo
Boonville 11 Oct 1864
Special}
Order }

Capn Anderson with his Command will at once proceed to the north side of the Missouri River and permanently distroy the North Missouri R.R. going as far East as practicable he will report his operations at least every two days.

By order of
Major Gen Price
-------
Lt. Col. AAG

I thought some of the Missouri folks might be interested in this document. If anyone is interested in a copy of the actual document and three supporting Federal documents, email me at hughkeen@hotmail.com
