Re: Jim Jackson & David Plunket

The reference to Heriford is interesting. There stands today in Glasgow a structure that was known as the Heriford House during the war. It was the headquarters of federal troops during the battle of Glasgow. It is, by any standard, a mansion. Today, it is the rectory of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

I knew that Green Plunkett was the first blacksmith in Glasgow at the time of its' founding in 1832. The census records do not show a David in the family, however, and I can find no reference to Green's family being involved in any fashion in the war or in any raids by either side.

I did obtain a copy of the "Other Noted Guerillas" book today. It is very interesting and the chapter on Jackson confirms much of what I had known of his character. I note that he evidently had a relationship with Fanny Duffy of Fayette who lived with a Hackley family. There are still Hackley's in the area.

I also was able today to make a copy of the article in the "Daily Missouri Republican" RE the capture and execution of Jackson.
