On September 2, 1861, elements of what would become the 3rd Cavalry Regiment, 1st Division, Missouri State Guard, skirmished with a Union patrol or scout near Dallas (now Marble Hill), in Bollinger County. The Guard reported no losses in the encounter. The only mention of this skirmish I have ever seen is a brief reference in a letter written by a member of the Guard. I assume this may be the encounter that you referred to in you inquiry.
