It looks like you reviewed a more extensive on-line record than I did. (I was using http://www.sos.mo.gov/archives/soldiers/) The record I saw did not identify a county of origin. The John W Kinder that was related to me was in Camden County. I just looked up the 1860 census, and there was a John Kinder, with a middle initial that looks like a "W" in Johnson County, residing with his mother.
