To J. Russell; Thanks for doing some research on Fleming Bard being killed by a band of bushwackers. I found out that there ware two towns in Missouri by the name of Dayton during this period of time. Dayton on the Dass/Bates county lines and then the one I am refering to was in Newton County, Missouri. The town of Dayton in Newton County, Missouri was changed to Racine, Missouri after the Civil war. Fleming Bard was swhot and killed in Newton County, Missouri
