John--Thanks for your interest. Anderson Smith was married to Betsy (Elizabeth) Howard, a daughter of James M. Howard and Jane McDaniel. Her sister, Lydia Howard Kay, was my gggrandmother. There was another sister, I believe named Paralee, who was married to James Inman, Sr. Cousins serving in the 10th Missouri Cavalry in 1864 include Anderson Smith, A.J. Inman, Jeremiah Inman, J.S. Inman, T.T. Inman, John Howard, J.A.J. Howard and my ggrandfather, W.R. Kay. Several had Confederate or irregular service prior to 1864 but I know no details. Thanks again. jtkay ps Several descendants of this group have maintained entanglements with the provost marshal or like authority, but there are no known banishments to Wisconsin in recent years.
