I have read of a Kemp Woods, founder of Cox Hotel in Smithville, Missouri, whose father was Captain Kemp M. Woods. I think this family moved to Missouri from Kentucky in the 1830's. I can't find a record of a Capt. Kemp M. Woods on the Soldier/Sailor System or on the Missouri Archive site. I found three Woods riding with Quantrill but no Kemp. Family history says he would not sign the oath at the end of the war. Does anyone know of this captain?
