Does anyone know where I could find some history of these units; any battles they may have been in, what sort of men ended up in the EMM (I read once somewhere that they were mostly pushed into these units to prove their loyalty to the Union), and what they actually DID during the war?
Also, I grew up in Raytown, but now live in Maine making it difficult to do on-site research. I'm trying to find any personal anecdotes or other local information about what that area was like during before, during, and after the war. Does anyone have any links to on-line information I can access from way up here in Maine?
