I am so grateful for your assistence! Thank you for your information! Yes, there is some confusion with the two seperate engagements. Over the past,people were confused by the names involved and made erronious conclusions about who, what and where. The Ponder family had settled in what is now known as Ponder. However, they operated a Mill on the Little Black River (east of Current River and probably not too far from Fairdealing) which was known as Ponder's Mill where another action took place. I have seen the citation you over before and others, that confused the two. I am still of a mind that "Battle Hollow" is probably the correct local term for the action in the west on 12/25/63. As with all things, I will always keep an open mind about this question if more info comes my way. Using Google Earth and looking at creeks to the SW of Ponder from location clues found in descriptions, I found a spot that had evidence of an old road passing through the spot and then angling off to the south along Forche Creek. Because there was said to be a spring there and the spot said to be a popular picnic spot, this area looks highly promising as it seems to have attributes consistent with those uses. Bluffs there would be good signposts for springs and the pasture/meadow would (although who knows if it was there then?)
